The society has 15 standing committees.

  1. Publication Committee, chaired by Hidetoshi SHIMAUCHI, editor of The Journal of the Japanese Society of Periodontology.
  2. Educational Committee, chaired by Takayoshi HARA, deliberates matters concerning undergraduate curriculum and student practice.
  3. Science Committee, chaired by Shôgo TAKASHIBA, deliberates matters concerning the periodontal research on team projects and The JAPANESE SOCIETY OF PERIODONTOLOGY AWARD.
  4. Dental Health Service Systems Committee, chaired by Yuichi IZUMI, deliberates the topic on "A guide of periodontal disease therapy".
  5. Constitution and Bylaws Committee, chaired by Akio TANAKA, deliberates the electoral law and procedure for the president election.
  6. Ethical Committee, chaired by Masamitsu KAWANAMI, discusses the ethical of researches.
  7. Periodontal Specialist Committee, chaired by Kitetsu SHIN, discusses the specialist system and selects the applicants as the specialists.
  8. Scientific Terminology Committee, chaired by Kazuyuki NOGUCHI, deliberates matters concerning the publication of periodontal terminologies.
  9. International Relationship Committee, chaired by Nobuo YOSHINARI, deliberates matters concerning international joint meetings.
  10. Planning Committee, chaired by Toshihiko NAGATA, deliberates matters concerning planning of meetings and participation of co dental staffs.
  11. Dental Hygienist Related Committee, chaired by Toshiaki SHIBUTANI, deliberates on the concepts of the fields of the periodontal disease therapy and co dental staffs.
  12. Clinical Training Program Committee, chaired by Takeo TANIGUCHI, deliberates matters concerning clinical training programs.
  13. Public Relation Committee, chaired by Soh SATO, deliberates matters concerning public relation and web sites.
